I can’t watch the video until I get home, so maybe you addressed this, but my understanding of Texas marriage law is that you *can* get married, because Pace is legally considered a man. Texas defines gender by the chromosomes you were born with. (And, yes, I know how stupid the whole thing is.)

@Bryan: I think that was only in San Antonio, not all of Texas. I’m legally female according to Texas law, or at least according to the DPS. But anyway, that’s not a loophole we would be interested in taking advantage of, since (1) it would be supporting the law that doesn’t recognize me as female, and (2) it would be traumatic to be treated as male, regardless of the circumstances.
Regardless, the point is that it sucks.
Canada, baby! Let’s all go. I don’t want to live somewhere that doesn’t allow same sex marriage either. I can’t believe how little progress has been made in this country. It makes me feel very sad and bewildered.
I thought the two of you were already married (due to the fact e.g. that it says so in the header of your blog)… so from what I’ve been piecing together I assumed that you got married before Pace made her change, and thereby you were able to avoid this particular restriction… but I guess that’s not true?
Or maybe Kyeli is reacting to the legal situation in general?
