I have to agree; knowing in advance that you&#039;ll have a lot in common diminishes the anticipation quite a bit.</description>

		<description>One quirk I&#039;ve noticed for myself that I don&#039;t think I know of anyone else for whom this is true, is that I often do better socially in groups of people where I&#039;m obviously different from them. The more &quot;like me&quot; the people I&#039;m hanging out with are, the less likely it is I&#039;m going to be able to relate to them well, which I suspect is because they&#039;ve already made assumptions about what we have in common and what those things mean in terms of how we will relate to each other (and so have I). Whereas, when I hang out with people who aren&#039;t like me in some &quot;fundamental&quot; way, we already got past that hurdle because we aren&#039;t assuming that something we think we have in common means something that it doesn&#039;t.</description>
