I'm happy that it's clicking for you. (:

This may be just a difference in definitions of terms, but for me, when I'm doing something unenjoyable, I try to finish it efficiently, which is different from hurrying. It's basically hurrying without stressing. I take a moment beforehand to remind myself why I want to accomplish the task, I come up with a clear plan to get it done quickly and with high quality (or whatever quality I care about), and then I execute the plan. It sometimes doesn't work and I end up feeling hurried, but when it does work it's much nicer than feeling hurried. (:

The problem I often run in to is when I'm doing something unenjoyable. It's easy for me to relax and take my time doing something fun. It's when I'm doing something I don't really want to be doing that time seems to drag and I just want to "hurry up" and be done with it.

Rolling around your mantra, "I'd rather be happy and fail", is definitely clicking with that. A lot of my worry is from the sense that I MUST succeed at the task. Thanks :)

Wow! this is similair to an epiphany about worrying that I had this summer. Mine came in a dream and the message was that "Worrying is like playing for the other side." Or that my worrying constantly was just scoring points against what I wanted to accomplished.
Thanks again for reminding me.
I take a deep breath and release my stress, aniexty, and worry. I slow down and allow my goals and purposes to be unhurried and aligned with the universe.

Ahh, quit hurrying. I had that told to me just today. I've been struggling a bit at work, it seemed that EVERYTHING needed to be done yesterday yet nothing was getting done for worrying.

I questioned my supervisor for advice as I could not figure it out looking from the inside. He said this.
"I'll tell you like I tell my daughter. She will be reading a book and after each page is read she will count the pages that she has left to finish the book. It usually takes her twice as long to read a book when she does this, so I tell her to stop doing that. So Scott, I'm telling you, quit worrying about getting to the end of your projects or duties and just do."

Tried it today, and have gotten more done today than I have the last two weeks. No hurry, no worry. Amen!

Great Post! Glad I found you!

*gasps* I have came to the same conclusions in the last few days. I learned this lesson on my vacation. I feel like I accomplish more by taking my time. I hope that I can maintain this lesson when I go back to work.

I'm totally down with this. I find I have to deliberately give myself permission when I arrive home from my day job to sit and do nothing. I have to make myself do it. But it's soooooo worth it.

Right on, kiddo.
