Pace Explains audio editing

by Pace on September 8, 2010

Today I explain how to do basic audio editing using free software that’s available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

I’ll walk you through it step by step: downloading and installing the software, opening up the audio file, mucking about with it, and turning it into an MP3.

Enjoy! (:

What would you like me to explain next time?

p.s. For anyone who uses Audacity’s Normalize function instead of the Levelator, here’s a clear example of why the Levelator is better.

That was really awesome. :) I knew how to use Audacity, but the Levelator was new to me and I’m definitely going to be using it. Thanks, Pace!

Wow! Great job! I’m sending this to everyone. And, I agree with Sea about the Levelator – it was new to me. Great tool! Thank you.

Thank you *so* much for this. Your timing is amazing! I did my first teleclass this morning…and thanks to you it is now shorter by 3 ums.

Things I loved the most (aside from your cheerful self guiding us through) – just the right amount of information (no agonizing step by step installation) – the live, real life demo – and focus on the 20% of the software that will give us 80% of the value. (Oh…and for helping us “uncool kids” with the PCs.)

And seems you’re taking requests: how about something similar for editing video from a flip camera?

Great tutorial – I’ve been resisting digging into Audacity…but you’ve explained it beautifully. Thanks!

YAY! I totally skipped over this one when it came out because I was so far away from recording audio (much less editing it). But now I need it, and it’s soooo helpful! Thanks to Kyeli for reminding me about this, and SUPER thanks to you for explaining!
