I'm not yet familiar with recording and editing videos, and didn't feel compelled to make time to figure those things out right now. I do have that on my list for doing eventually, to promote my own website in the future and for fun, but I'm not there yet and your contest wasn't something I chose to so drastically change my current time use priorities for. 1. I couldn’t think of how I am changing the world.

2. It’s a pain in the butt to record video on my camera.

3. I figured since I didn’t *know* how I was changing the world, and couldn’t think of what I would say, there would be no chance of me winning.

Pace, I think you bring up a great question here.
Why don’t people take a stand for the change they want to see in the world?
Why not shout it out and take ownership of it?
I think for some it is easier to bitch,moan,complain and blame rather than take responsibility for creating change yourself.
Or it is easy to be too busy and involved in other things to take a stand.

The funny thing is that creating change is actually simple…you do not have to change the world. All you have to do is change yourself. Begin to embody what you want to see.
Be the change you want.
You are the one you are waiting for.

1) my webcam is broken. i could have borrowed one off someone else, but setting the things up is a pain.
2) i suck at speeches. that’s fine and dandy if i’m in person and have time for a Q&A, but it doesn’t work on video so well, especially since i have zero know-how for editing video
3) as freaky-awesome as i am, the people i live with are not so awesome. ridicule on the internet i can ignore, but ridicule from the people i live with is much harder to do. (and yes, even attempting to make a video is asking for it, and no, i can’t leave just yet.)
4) i’ve been caught in a catch-22 for a few years now. i’m just getting my life started on the right track again. how can i change the world if i still can’t leave my house without having a panic attack?

I’ll get there eventually, of that I’m sure. I’m just significantly farther back on the road than the awesome freaky people on the front lines. Right now, my focus is getting me where I need to be, not on worrying about anyone else or the world in general. Eventually I’d like to kick butt and take names, but that day is not today, or tomorrow.

Need to work on my kicks, yanno?

My #1 reason was that I don’t have a video camera, but my number #2 reason is the same as the reason why I don’t have a video camera…it’s just not a particular media form that I’m drawn to expressing myself with.

I also don’t really like CONTESTS. It’s not so much that I don’t think I’d win, it’s that the possibility of winning doesn’t motivate me very well.

I am glad it was fun for the people who did it, though!

1) I don’t do video.

2) Seriously, I don’t do video.

3) There may be equipment here, but I don’t do video. I so much do not do video, I didn’t look to see if any equipment might be knocking around here somewhere.

4) I was on a mad tear for 5 weeks leading up to the deadline, and I’m not sure I had even an hour to plan, shoot & edit (or whatever would need to be done) in that time. IOW, life got in the way. And, well, a good chunk of the mad tear was getting stuff done that would have a positive impact on my life once it WAS done, and I was going after THOSE goals at the time.

5) Did I mention, I don’t do video? :)

From reading the comments, I think the consensus is that everyone’s more confortable writing. I think a ‘”Guest Post” contest would be a good future idea. I know I’d be excited about that. Especially if it was a “pick your favorite post we’ve done and do a response to it / how has it effected you” post. Then it’d be easier to come up with something to say. :)

- I didn’t think I’d win.
- Too many entries for mine to stand out.
- I wasn’t sure what I’d say.
- I’m not comfortable on my webcam.
- And I’m way better at writing.

Hmm. That’s a good question.

1) Because I don’t like myself on video, and am intimidated by thinking a bunch of other people will see/hear me/judge me like I judge myself.
2) Because I am very busy with work and life, and didn’t think I could get my brain together to actually film myself saying anything worth listening to.
3) Because I’m still not sure WHAT I’m doing to change the world.
