That’s interesting. Good luck on eventually fixing the root of that problem, hopefully this technique makes that easier for you.

I used to have internal talk issues before I switched my outlook on things recently, but instead of your general problem, this was just clear cut guilt tripping (so it was easier to fix the root cause of it).

I wish I could shut my mind up that easily! I have contacts instead of glasses, but my internal dialogue doesn’t shut up even when I’m SLEEPING. Sometimes it’s a soundtrack instead of a dialogue, though.

That’s hilarious! I spent 8 months in France but now live here. I can still understand French, but if I try to speak it, it comes out a mix Franspanglish. My brain tells me I’m speaking French but along the way my mouth switches it to “general foreign language” making a mess of it all. ;)

@Alex: I learned some Spanish in highschool, and then several years ago when I was actively studying finish, some folks came to install a new refrigerator. They only spoke Spanish, and when I tried to ask them if they could please switch the refrigerator door to open on the other side, all that came out was Finnish. They looked at me like I had gone mad. And that’s why my refrigerator door opened from the wrong side for two years. (:

I too read everything including what I hear and what I say. That’s fine in English, but it’s impossible while learning another language. That’s when my inner dialogue drives me insane.

I don’t meditate or anything – I simply tune out with TV. I use that to cut out the dialogue for a bit… ;)

This is fascinating and really important. I have found my symbol is a particular pendant. Without the pendant, mindchatter and fear. With the pendant, I seem to chill out.
