It can be really tough to push the “Send” button on emails like that. I’ve lost my share of friends because I’ve changed and become incompatible. At some point, like Anais Nin says, “And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom”.

Double hooray for openness (- :

So, earlier this year I started sending a mass email to all the people closest to me in our world. My experience? Yeah, invulnerability. But more importantly, I’ve been fascinated with who responds to which email and how they do it. Some people I’m becoming so much closer with, and others? Maybe they’ll never talk to me again. So, it feels like an even more honest version of myself.

I have similar hopes for a generation from now, but I’d articulate it like this: personal barriers coming down and not the hidden comfort of sharing behind the Facebook wall.
